“Confirmed to Make Debut on July”… YG Announces ‘TREASURE’ in 4 Years

[OSEN=이승훈 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE has confirmed their debut to be July.

As it will by YG’s large scale rookie group being announced in 4 years since BLACKPINK, the entertainment industry in and out of Korea will pay keen attention.

On May 12, YG Entertainment uploaded a teaser clip announcing the confirmation of TREASURE’s debut on July through their official blog. The clip showed the 12 members in addition to the subtitles, ‘JULY 2020’.

YG stated, “Since BLACKPINK’s debut has been confirmed to be on July, TREASURE’s debut in July was decided as well. We will inform the fans about the exact date and related information”. They added, “We thank the fans for waiting for such a long time”.

TREASURE is YG’s fourth boy group following BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON. They were created through the survival program ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ aired since November 2018 until January 2019.

Members CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN will be active not only in Korea, but also in the global market.

TREASURE has been recognized as rookies with the biggest potential in the K-Pop scene of 2020. YG has begun their debut project this year and has revealed various contents, which let the global fans’ interest and support towards the group increase exponentially.

The performance clip of ‘Going Crazy’, containing the group dance of all 12 members, surpassed over 20 million views on YouTube. Considering the fact that the clip was released by rookies who have not yet made official debut, the figures are amazing.

The fans also made favorable reviews. TREASURE is reviewed to have made growth after all members have presented high quality musical capabilities and performances regardless of vocal·rap position. The people are highly looking forward to the music and performances they will present.

YG has previously noticed TREASURE’s successful debut and stated, “The members actively participated in writing·composing themselves. The positive change was possible because the members’ works for the past couple of months have received favorable reviews”.

As news on TREASURE’s official debut has followed the news on BLACKPINK’s comeback, YG music is expected to heat up not only the K-Pop scene, but also the global music industry this summer.
