JUNKYU of YG TREASURE Reveals First Cover Video… The ‘Vocal Tone Fairy’ Capable of Both Natural·Falsetto Vocals
[OSEN=지민경 기자] JUNKYU of YG’s rookie group TREASURE fascinated the global fans with his charming vocal tone and performance.
On March 21 at 12 PM, YG Entertainment uploaded the first cover video by JUNKYU of TREASURE through their official blog and YouTube channel.
On the revealed video, JUNKYU appeared while flowing with the rhythm of the background music. He chose ‘Latch’(feat. Sam Smith) by Disclosure, the British electronic duo as his cover song. His unique and soft vocal tone grabbed the listeners’ ears in an instant.
JUNKYU perfectly expressed the song with his overflowing talents and energy. His broad vocal range allowed him to freely switch from natural tone to falsetto tone, which was the highlight of the video.
Furthermore, he danced naturally to the groove of his music, while his pure facial expressions on his boyish face matched his vocals which add sweet emotions to the song.
JUNKYU was confirmed to become a member of TREASURE after receiving the highest score among all trainees with vocalist positions on the final stage of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, which was YG’s rookie debut project program. He also showed his potential as a producer, raising expectations on his future as an all-around artist.
Prior to the release of JUNKYU’s cover video, CHOI HYUN SUK and DOYOUNG’s performance film, BANG YE DAM’s cover of Pink Sweat$’s ‘HONESTY’, PARK JEONG WOO’s cover of Ruben Studdard’s ‘Superstar’ have been revealed consecutively, raising anticipation on TREASURE’s upcoming debut.
TREASURE has begun their full-scale debut project this year and are presenting various contents. In addition to the profile photo series which began being published on January, the group is communicating with the global fans through self-produced video contents including ‘TREASURE MAP’, ‘TMI’, ‘Fact Check, and ‘A 3 Minute TREASURE’.
