YG TREASURE, “First Holidays After Making Our Dreams Come True, Will Work Harder After Receiving Support from Family”

[OSEN=김은애 기자] TREASURE is definitely the biggest and brightest K-Pop rookie group who debuted this year. After debuting on August, they became a popular group by grabbing the hearts of global fans.

TREASURE is YG Entertainment’s fourth boy group following BIGBANG·WINNER·iKON, and is a group presented by the agency in 4 years since BLACKPINK. Composed of 12 members CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN, the group already has a sturdy fandom in and out of Korea.

Thanks to the fans’ support, TREASURE released their second single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER TWO’ on September 18 and are increasing in popularity at a fast pace.

The title song ‘I LOVE YOU’ topped iTunes Top Song charts in 9 different countries on the date of its release, as well as being placed on the top ranks of Line Music, Japan’s biggest music platform, and Rakuten Music, proving their strength as the ‘monster rookies’. This year’s Chuseok will be a meaningful holiday for the 12 members of TREASURE. We asked them how they will spend the Chuseok holidays this year.

Q. What’s your favorite Chuseok food?

CHOI HYUN SUK: Songpyeon, pan-fried fish fillets

JIHOON: Food cooked by mom, homemade food

YOSHI: Grilled short rib patties, I tried it last year and it was delicious.

JUNKYU: Grilled short rib patties, it’s perfect with rice.

MASHIHO: Dduk related food, especially songpyeon.

JAEHYUK: I want braised pork ribs cooked by grandma.

ASAHI: I never had any, but I would like to try out songpyeon this year.

BANG YE DAM: LA galbi, I like to eat meat with sweet sauce.

DOYOUNG: Braised ribs, it’s the best when you mix the sauce with rice.

HARUTO: Anything meat, so I like both grilled short rib patties and braised ribs.

PARK JEONG WOO: LA galbi, my grandmother does a great job making them.

SO JEONG HWAN: I want to drink sweet rice punch at my grandmother’s house.

Q. It’s the first holidays since making debut. What has changed from last year?

CHOI HYUN SUK: Since it’s busy after making debut, I feel that the Chuseok holidays got more special, since I can spend time with the family.

JIHOON: It’s the holidays after making my dream come true, so it feels new.

YOSHI: I want to spend time meaningfully since we are facing the holidays while being active. I will study writing lyrics and compose songs.

JUNKYU: I felt good since I met the family in a long time, and they’ve congratulated me. I also thought I should work harder.

MASHIHO: I still can’t really feel the difference. I should work harder.

YOON JAE HYUK: I will work harder for the Treasure Makers.

ASAHI: It still feels surreal, so I’m not sure. I feel like we should work harder.

BANG YE DAM: There are many things I would like to tell my family and it’s different when I see myself on TV.

DOYOUNG: I think they’ll go, “Wow~~ A celebrity~~~”. (Laughter)

HARUTO: It will be a period of recharge, so I will take a break and use it to focus more on working on songs.

PARK JEONG WOO: It feels surreal, so not sure. I should work harder.

SO JUNG HWAN: I feel like my family will call me a celebrity. (Laughter)

TREASURE: “You will spend this year in your homes due to the COVID19 and many other situations but stay healthy and have a great time with your family. I hope this year’s Chuseok holidays will be a time to share many left-out stories with the family. Don’t worry about gaining weight and have lots of delicious food as well. Thank you”.
