BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ Surpasses 500M Views… Fastest Record in K-Pop Group History

[일간스포츠=김연지 기자] BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ surpassed 500M views, rewriting the fastest record in K-Pop group history.

Today(25th) at 1:38 AM, the MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ surpassed 500M views on YouTube, in 111 days since the video was released.

BLACKPINK, the group who held the fastest K-Pop group record in reaching 500M views with ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, set another milestone by renewing their own best record. They shortened the previous record of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’(162 days to reach 500M views) by approximately 51 days.

With the new record, BLACKPINK now has 4 MVs with over 500M views including ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which surpassed 800M views for the first time in K-Pop group history, ‘BOOMBAYAH’ at 600M views, and ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’.

The song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ has entered the Billboard ‘Hot 100’ and ‘Billboard 200’ as no. 41 and no. 24, respectively. The record is the ‘first’ and ‘best’ record for a K-Pop girl group. The song was charted in for 4 weeks as well, also renewing the ‘longest’ record for a K-Pop girl group.

In addition, the song also charted on UK’s ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’, known as one of the two biggest music charts of the world along with US Billboard, for 5 consecutive weeks.

The MV for BLACKPINK’s mega-hit, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, has already surpassed 800M views and is expected to become the first K-Pop group video to surpass 900M views. In addition, the MV for ‘WHISTLE’ is about to surpass 400M views.

After setting a new record with ‘KILL THIS LOVE’, BLACKPINK was also nominated for the ‘Best K-Pop Video’ on MTV’s Video Music Awards, raising the fans expectations.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK has recently completed their first-ever world tour consisted of 32 concerts held in a total of 23 cities and 4 continents, including Asia, North America, Europe, and Oceania. The are scheduled to hold a dome tour in Japan consisted of 4 concerts held in 3 cities. Their schedule will begin on December in Tokyo Dome and continue in Osaka Kyocera Dome next year on January, to Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome on February.
