BLACKPINK’s ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ MV Surpasses 70 Million Views in A Day and a Half… First Performance at ‘Music Core’

[스포츠경향=유하은 기자] BLACKPINK’s title song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ from their new EP album topped iTunes Song charts in 37 different regions of the world including the US, the country with the biggest music market in the world, notifying the return of the K-Pop queens.
BLACKPINK’s no. 1 on the US iTunes Song chart is reviewed with more value since a few media channels have analyzed that it’s been 15 years since a girl group topped the iTunes Song chart since Destiny’s Child has done so.
‘KILL THIS LOVE’, which was unprecedentedly released at midnight, was ranked at no. 1 on various Korea music charts including Mnet, Naver, Bugs, and Soribada after sequentially raising its ranks.
BLACKPINK’s popularity did not stop in Korea but spread out to Japan. ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ topped Japan’s iTunes Comprehensive Album chart as well as the nation’s K-Pop Album chart and Pop Album chart. In addition, the song continued its no. 1 march on Line Music’s Song TOP100 Rankings.
The MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ was ranked at no. 1 on America’s YouTube trending list, proving the group’s massive influence. The MV has surpassed 70 million views as of April 6 at 2 PM, in a day and a half since the video was released to the public. The record is faster than what BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ achieved, which has currently surpassed 730 million views’
Today(6th), BLACKPINK will have their first glamorous comeback performance at MBC <Show! Music Core>. They will present performances of the title song, ‘KILL THIS LOVE’, and ‘Don’t Know What To Do’, which is the sub-title song.
YG Entertainment asked for the people’s attention on BLACKPINK’s upcoming performance by stating, “The choreography has been formed with impressive moves which are different from what BLACKPINK has been presenting”. They added, “While ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ is formed with strong and restrained moves which remind people of female soldiers, ‘Don’t Know What To Do’ is composed of choreography which maximizes the group’s feminine charms”, raising expectations on BLACKPINK’s first comeback performance in 9 months.
