BLACKPINK Makes the Crowd Go ‘Wild’ on Their First-Ever Concert in Bangkok… A Heated Start of Their World Tour

[스포츠조선=이유나 기자] BLACKPINK notified the start of their first-ever world tour by holding a concert in Thailand.

On January 11, BLACKPINK held the ‘BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR with KIA [IN YOUR AREA]’ in Bangkok Impact Arena. BLACKPINK’s world tour that will continue throughout Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia is sponsored by Kia Motors.

BLACKPINK added more meaning to their world tour by holding its first concert in Bangkok, LISA’s hometown. While the tickets for the Bangkok concert to be held on the 12th and 13th were all sold out in one hour, the tickets for the concert on the 11th additionally opened were sold out as well. The fans in Bangkok expressed their affections towards LISA and BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK arrived in Bangkok on the 9th, prior to their first concert. The group shared their gratitude on the warm welcome during the press conference held with journalists from over 70 different local media channels.

During the press conference, LISA stated, “I always wanted to do a concert in Thailand ever since I made debut”, sharing her overwhelming heart. The members stated, “We looked forward to our concert here ever since we were trainees and thought, ‘How special would it be to perform in LISA’s country’. Thank you for welcoming us and showing us love”.

A photo wall created with a large photo of BLACKPINK and a special booth operated with Kia Motors were placed near the concert arena. The audiences took photos while waiting for the concert and commemorated BLACKPINK’s first-ever concert in Bangkok.

BLACKPINK started the concert with the performance of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, with the instrumental accompaniment of a live band. The audiences filled up the arena with roars and greeted BLACKPINK. When the performance of ‘FOREVER YOUNG’ was over, fireworks went off to raise the mood of the scene.

After catching their breath on a passionate opening stage, BLACKPINK shared greetings with the audiences in Thai language. BLACKPINK stated, “We’re happy to hold our first concert of our world tour in Bangkok. Thank you for coming”. After the members shared their greetings one by one and it was LISA’s turn to speak, the audiences supported LISA with a wild burst of applause.

BLACKPINK used a projected stage to perform ‘STAY’ and communicated with the audiences in the second and third floor, while their performance of ‘WHISTLE’ on the center of the stage heated up the arena even more.

Not only the group performances, but also the individual performances of BLACKPINK containing each members’ unique charms decorated the concert with various colors. JISOO and ROSÉ decorated the scene with their own unique vocals, while LISA’s individual stage reinterpreted for the world tour elicited exclamations from the audience. JENNIE who acted as the first runner of BLACKPINK’s solo project performed ‘SOLO’, the song that swept music charts in 2018 along with BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.

After performing ‘Kiss and Make Up’ collaborated with Dua Lipa, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’, and ‘SEE U LATER’, BLACKPINK stated, “We love you, Thailand”, “We won’t forget this special day even if we go to Korea”, and “We’ll miss Thailand”. The audiences responded with cheers by doing waves in their seats.

LISA stated, “We thank everyone that came to support us today. We worked very hard and dedicated ourselves to this world tour”, in Thai. She added, “It is very meaningful that we started our world tour in Thailand. BLINK, please continue to support us when we’re happy or sad. Let’s be together long!”.

At the end of the concert, a special event by the fans for BLACKPINK also took place. When BLACKPINK stepped out of the stage after the main concert, the audience lit up the stage with their cellphone lights and chanted ‘BLACKPINK’, creating an epic scene.

During the encore performances, the fans revealed their unchanging hearts towards BLACKPINK, who held their first-ever concert in Bangkok after making debut on August 8, 2016, with a plan card that read, ‘887 days, I’m waiting for you’. BLACKPINK took a photo of BLINK who attended their first-ever Bangkok concert as a special memory.

After meeting their fans in Bangkok through two additional concerts to be held today (12th) and the 13th, BLACKPINK will continue their world tour in Jakarta on the 19th and 20th. They will continue their tour by visiting Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Taipei to North America, Europe, and Australia to meet BLINKs spread across the entire globe.

BLACKPINK will also perform at ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’, the largest music festival in the US, for the first time as K-Pop idols on April 12th and April 19th. As the group has partnered with Interscope Records, the representative music label of Universal Music Group, to announce their expansion into the US market, BLACKPINK will continue to stay active this year as a global girl group.
