US Billboard Spotlights iKON, “Fifth Top 5 Entry on World Albums”

[한국일보=강기향 기자] US Billboard spotlighted iKON’s achievement of earning their fifth top 5 entry on World Albums Chart.
On October 10 (local time), Billboard highlighted iKON’s success with an article titled, ‘iKON Earn Fifth Top 5 Entry on World Albums With ‘New Kids: The Final’ EP’.
The album ‘NEW KIDS: THE FINAL’ released by iKON reached the no. 5 spot on US Billboard’s World Albums Chart. The group has previously reached no. 3 back in 2015 with the album ‘WELCOME BACK : DEBUT HALF’ and no. 2 in 2016 with the album ‘FULL WELCOME BACK’. Their two albums released this year including ‘Return’ and ‘NEW KIDS : CONTINUE’ both reached no. 4. The group’s latest album reached no. 5, adding up to a total of 5 albums that reached TOP 5.
Billboard also added a detailed review on iKON’s new album. “iKON’s leader B.I participated in the writing and composing of all 4 tracks, while BOBBY has also co-written two songs. The album describes the vibes of autumn”. They added, “The title song ‘GOODBYE ROAD’ uses calm strings while the track ‘ADORE YOU’ uses instruments such as piano and guitar, which complements the members’ vocals. The complete the album with the song ‘PERFECT’, which sounds like a Jazz band”.
The praised the group’s recent activities by writing, “iKON has made an unprecedented milestone of making their third successful comeback within 1 year”.
iKON has previously topped not only major Korean music charts as soon as they made comeback on October 1, but also topped overseas iTunes Album Charts in 25 different countries, renewing the group’s own best record. Also, the group successfully won the double crown on Gaon Charts for the 40th week announced on the 11th, with ‘NEW KIDS: THE FINAL’ at no. 1 on the Album Chart and the title song ‘GOODBYE ROAD’ at no. 1 on the Downloads Chart.
Furthermore, the group topped the K-Pop Weekly and K-Pop MV Charts of QQ Music, which is China’s largest music streaming platform. The song also topped KUGOU Music’s K-Pop New Releases Chart, proving the group’s popularity in China.
