BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ Reaches 150 Million Views… Fastest Record in K-Pop History

[일간스포츠=박정선 기자] The MV for BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ became the fastest video to surpass 150 million views in K-Pop group history.
On June 7 at 1:14 AM, the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ from BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ surpassed 150 million views on YouTube.
BLACKPINK reached 150 million views in 21 days and 7 hours since the MV was released, which is the fastest record among all K-Pop boy and girl groups. BLACKPINK set a milestone in K-Pop history by shortening the previous record by 3 days.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ swept all time-related records previously held by other K-Pop girl groups, while reaching from 10 million to 100 million views. BLACKPINK is also the only girl group that has over 100 million views for all 6 videos released since debut, which is another dazzling achievement by the group.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also proved its presence by becoming the 2nd most viewed MV in the world in 24 hours. Well-known foreign press highlighted BLACKPINK’s remarkable achievement. UK Metro wrote, “BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ becomes the 2nd most viewed video in 24 hours in the world, second to Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’”, along with Official Data revealed by a spokesperson from YouTube.
US Billboard also highlighted BLACKPINK by writing, “As of YouTube, BLACKPINK now has the MV with the most views in 24 hours among Korean artists”.
BLACKPINK is currently dominating various music charts along with their MV, which is accumulating views at a fast pace. The song is maintaining its top position for 23 days since the song was released.
As of today (7th) at 8 AM, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is placed at no. 1 on major real-time charts including Melon, Genie, Olleh, and Mnet, receiving steady support from music fans. They firmly established themselves as music queens by displaying strong music power despite a flood of new releases.
