U.S. Forbes, “BLACKPINK is setting a milestone worthy of attention”

On June 18 (local time), Forbes introduced the group by writing “Korean girl-group BLACKPINK is setting milestones with their first-ever mini album”.
They continued, “The MV for the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is achieving remarkable success. They display glitzy spectacles by swinging on chandeliers and munching on popcorn atop bejeweled tanks. The catchy chorus and vocals of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also makes the listeners dance to the song without knowing”.
BLACKPINK’s MV for their mega-hit song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 10 million views in the first 6 hours since its release, 20 million views in 13 hours, 30 million views in 23 hours, 40 million views in 27 hours, 50 million views in 50 hours, and 60 million views in 82 hours, sweeping all pre-existing time records held by K-Pop girl groups.
Forbes praised BLACKPINK by stating, “It’s a remarkable achievement”. The added, “BLACKPINK previously set a milestone by topping Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales Chart with 3 consecutive releases. The group is expected to set another milestone, as they are receiving tremendous attention with the song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’”.
BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ which contains the song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also topped Japan Oricon Digital Album Chart. Japan is also spotlighting BLACKPINK’s new release, as the group’s popularity is transcending borders.
The song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ topped iTunes Album Charts in 44 different countries including Japan as soon as the album was released, while also topping the Comprehensive New Releases Chart, Comprehensive MV Chart, and KPOP MV Chart in QQ Music, which is China’s largest music platform. The results proved BLACKPINK’s global popularity.
After kicking off their promotional activities in Korea through music broadcasts, BLACKPINK will hold a fan signing event on the 23rd at 7 PM to celebrate the release of ‘SQUARE UP’ at Soundwave Goyang located in Goyang-si, Gyeonggido.
