[OFFICIAL] iKON Will Release New Single on March 5 … Going for Consecutive Home Runs
[OSEN=선미경 기자] Group iKON will shake the K-POP scene once again, by releasing a new single on March 5.
While achieving the legendary record of maintaining the no. 1 spot for 35 days with ‘LOVE SCENARIO’, the competition in the K-POP scene just got fiercer, as iKON announced to release a new single on March.
On February 28, YG Entertainment released a poster announcing the release of iKON’s new single through their official blog (www.yg-life.com).
Only the date of the new release was revealed in the teaser photo, tightly pulling a rubber band with two hands. Although there wasn’t any specific information on who wrote and composed the song, it is expected that iKON’s B.I, who participated in writing and composing all songs from their 2nd official album was part of the process.
YG’s representative producer, YANG HYUN SUK has been sending out messages such as, “Preparing a special gift for iKonic (iKON’s fan club)”, “Watch for your hear”, and the surprise gift turned out to be a new single by iKON.
The reason why it was hard even for the fans to guess is because iKON was not active in Korea last year due to their busy promotional activities in Japan, and since iKON’s official album came out in 3 years, nobody expected that they will release a new single soon after they released their 2nd album.
Furthermore, releasing a new song while maintaining the no. 1 spot for 35 days is a bold strategy, that perfectly suits YANG HYUN SUK.
It all comes down to a plan to continue their activities in Korea for the fans, by releasing a new single rather than choosing another song from their 2nd album.
While being placed at no. 1 in 8 different charts for 35 days, iKON set a milestone in idol group history by topping weekly charts for 4 consecutive weeks.
While winning the trophy on last week’s MBC ‘Show! Music Core’ and SBS ‘Inkigayo’, they received love calls from major music markets including the United States, Japan, and Chine. Furthermore, various media channels including Billboard, BuzzFeed, and Fuse TV gave spotlight to iKON’s rise as K-POP’s best idol group, and the group even dominated no. 1 positions in iTunes charts of 17 different countries.
People are already curious on what kind of new single iKON will release on March 5, and whether they will be able to continue their no. 1 record with the song, ‘LOVE SCENARIO’.
