[First episode of “MIXNINE” broadcasted] With YG and the producer of “Produce 101”… Fully lived up to their reputation
[엑스포츠뉴스=이아영 기자] “MIXNINE” has perfectly lived up to people’s great anticipation for the combination between YANG HYUN SUK and producer Han Dong-cheol.
In the first episode of JTBC’s “MIXNINE” aired on October 29, YG Entertainment’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK visited mid-and-small-sized entertainment companies across the nation with CL, to select the trainees to compete in the main audition.
YANG HYUN SUK visited YAMA&HOTCHICKS led by choreographer Bae Yoon-jeong, Banana Culture led by Shinsadong Tiger, an entertainment company in a mountain in Gangwon Province, Brave of Brave Brothers, FAVE to which IU belongs, Staro, and Live Works Company, to see the performances of their trainees.
YANG HYUN SUK continued to give strict and sharp evaluations to the trainees, based on his long-time experience of evaluating the contestants of SBS “K-Pop Star” series. He extolled the trainees who showed good performances, but harshly criticized imperfect performances. He even pointed out problems in trainees’ attitude or postures on the stage, like a strict teacher. He had his own firm criteria, but made efforts to see each trainee’s unique personality and talents as well. The most eye-catching case was when he met a trainee from FM Entertainment in Gangwon Province. He said the top priority for singers is excellent singing ability even though good appearance is also important and gave good grade to a trainee who synchronized with the lyrics even while doing lip-sync. Another trainee from Banana Culture had to listen to YANG’s strict criticism.
The producing of dividing those who passed YANG’s evaluation and others into different buses added to the excitement for viewers. YANG HYUN SUK and CL not only selected the successful trainees but also divided them into different classes right away. Every time when a new one rode on each bus and the seats in the bus were filled one after another, the trainees who were already in the bus showed different responses, which gave further entertainment to viewers. In addition, when the bus of successful contestants was filled up, one had to be eliminated. Such way of producing was a good idea that helped maintain the tension of the episode that might have made the show uninteresting because of repeated scenes.
Another story of YANG HYUN SUK, the head of one of the three largest music labels in Korea, meeting heads of mid-and-small-sized entertainment companies across the nation also drew keen attention. A scene in which Bae Yoon-jeong who appeared in Mnet’s “Produce 101” as a choreographer shedding tears while talking about her own trainees, as well as a scene in which YANG HYUN SUK meets Brave Brothers and explains that the relationship between the two is not bad refreshed the atmosphere and gave a new and unexpected fun to viewers. The next episodes of “MIXNINE” are drawing all the more attention, as YANG HYUN SUK will meet Park Jin Young of JYP Entertainment and SE7EN.
“MIXNINE” has been at the center of spotlight and controversies, as YANG HYUN SUK directly performs producing of other music labels’ trainees in it and the producer of “Produce 101” who left Mnet to join YG is producing another survival audition show. Now that the first episode of the show has been broadcasted, the name values of YANG HYUN SUK and producer Han Dong-cheol lived up to people’s expectations. YANG HYUN SUK showed a professional attitude from the beginning to the end and producer Han Dong-cheol presented an immersive way of producing with originality. In addition, the contestants displayed not only great passion and ambition, but also outstanding talents and abilities.
