[OSEN=엄동진 기자] BLACKPINK became No.15 on Billboard’s Social 50 chart.

On the Billboard Social 50 that was announced on June 29 (KST), BLACKPINK ranked 15th, a big jump from 35th last week. The first place went to Justin Bieber, the second place to BTS, and the third to Ariana Grande. It’s a new record for BLACKPINK, as the group only went up as high as 19th place on the chart last year.

Billboard wrote, “Blackpink rises to a new high on Billboard’s Social 50 chart, leaping 50-15 on the list dated July 8 following the release of the K-pop group’s new song ‘As If It’s Your Last.’”

The Social 50 serves a barometer of musicians’ popularity as it “is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Tumblr. The chart’s methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and engagement.”

BLACKPINK’s new song “As If It’s Your Last”, which was released in June 22, is becoming more popular abroad. The song also entered Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart at No.1, proving their strong presence.

The song also took the No.1 spot on the new songs and new music videos charts of QQ Music, China’s biggest music platform that has 400 million monthly subscribers. “As If It’s Your Last” became No.1 on the iTunes chart in 18 countries, making BLACKPINK the first K-pop girl group to achieve such a feat. The song has also been chosen as US Apple Music’s Best of the Week, a rare case for a rookie.
