[Oh! Music] BLACKPINK topped iTunes charts of 18 countries + MV soon to surpass 10 million views “WOW”
[OSEN=강서정 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK is showing a formidable potential as a “monstrous rookie”. The team is setting astonishing records within a day of their new release.
BLACKPINK’s new single “As If It’s Your Last” released on June 22 is proving the team’s substantial influence in the global music scene, topping iTunes global singles charts of 18 countries. The album is in the second place on iTunes albums chart of Japan.
BLACKPINK took No.1 on the iTunes charts of 15 countries as of 9PM on June 22, within three hours of the release of the new single at 6PM on the same day, and then three more countries were added soon. BLACKPINK renewed their own record of topping iTunes chart of 14 countries with “WHISTLE”.
BLACKPINK is setting remarkable records in Korea as well. “As If It’s Your Last” is staying in No.1 on the charts of six music-streaming websites including Genie, Bugs Music, NAVER Music, Olleh Music, Monkey 3, and Soribada, as of June 23 at 7AM.
The music video of “As If It’s Your Last” is also seeing a rapid increase in its number of views. The video surpassed two million views on YouTube within four hours of the release of the song on June 22. Then, within 13 hours of release, the number increased to 8.77 million and now it has surpassed nine million. It is expected that the number will soon surpass 10 million.
If the current pace of increase is maintained, BLACKPINK might break the record of daily number of views on YouTube for an idol group.
“As If It’s Your Last” is the fastest and most exciting-ever song among BLACKPINK’s songs released so far, which targets this summer season. Producer TEDDY who has worked with BLACKPINK from the team’s debut song “WHISTLE” took part in the new single again, to create another hit.
