[iKON Comeback] iKON following WINNER… The YG baton has been passed from WINNER to iKON
[OSEN=김은애 기자] iKON’s comeback is just around the corner. Teaser films of iKON’s new songs hinted that the team’s new album has an unprecedented quality. iKON is now resolved to sweep the music scene, following the footsteps of WINNER, iKON’s “YG older brother”.
WINNER came back as a team of four members, on April 4 at 4PM. “REALLY REALLY” and “FOOL”, the double title tracks of WINNER’s new album, proved the team’s remarkable potential again by sweeping No.1 on music charts and taking quintuple crown in TV music shows.
WINNER also enjoyed explosive popularity overseas, taking No.1 on the iTunes albums charts of 21 countries and being selected as the “Best of the Week” of Apple Music.
WINNER is still staying in high ranks on music charts, recording a long-run success. As such, WINNER has set the milestone of success in the recent music scene of Korea.
It is iKON’s turn now. iKON is releasing their new album “NEW KIDS : BEGIN” on May 22 at 6PM. iKON is coming back after one year of absence from Korea’s music scene.
iKON will present new concept of “NEW KIDS” which represents their “new beginning” and “new style”. “BLING BLING” and “B-DAY” are the double title tracks of iKON’s new album.
iKON has had a concept of youthful and innocent boys so far, but the team is to boast their full masculine appeal with their new album, with street fashion and heavy hip-hop energy. Teaser films that have already been unveiled display distinctively unique color of iKON.
Fans’ anticipation for iKON’s new album is rising all-time high. YG Entertainment’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK has extolled iKON’s new album by saying, “iKON’s new songs are their all-time best” and iKON themselves also expressed great confidence in the new album, saying, “We’ve prepared fantastic music, group dance, and music videos”.
That is why people expect that iKON will achieve great success for their comeback just as WINNER did. WINNER and iKON have the same origin from YG and they have been growing up like brothers. Now, music fans are paying keen attention to what surprising record “younger brother” iKON will set, following the footsteps of “older brother” WINNER.
