YG & Unicef Hosts a Walkathon for 5,000 People
[OSEN=김은애 기자] Thanks to the joint efforts of YG Entertainment and Unicef, 5,000 people were able to join a charity event and see YG musicians.
On May 14 at 5 PM, the 2017 YG X Unicef Walking festival kicked off at the Peace Plaza, Seoul. It was a breezy spring day perfect for holding a walkathon.
YG Entertainment and Unicef co-hosted the event to encourage donations and make the participants feel that donating can be fun. Before the start of the festival, CHA SEUNG WON, SEAN, JANG HYUN SUNG, SON HO JUN, KIM HEE JUNG, and KIM SAE RON went up on the stage to express their support.
Firstly, CHA SEUNG WON said, “I’m glad to be taking part in such a meaningful event. I hope you fully enjoy the concert afterwards.” SON HO JUN said, “I was worried because it rained yesterday. I hope you have a good time and go back with good memories.”
SEAN said, “I’m proud to be taking part in such a meaningful event. This year marks the 20th anniversary of JINUSEAN’s debut. We received so much love, and I believe that this is one way to pay back. You are all champions in that you are participating in something meaningful to help others.”
JANG HYUN SUNG said, “All the proceeds will be used for good purposes. I wish all the best for all of you here today”. KIM HEE JUNG said, “I hope that you have a great and meaningful time.” KIM SEA RON said, “I’m happy to be here, be careful when walking and enjoy the after concert.”
Then, the 5,000 participants walked along the route all wearing white t-shirts. No one got hurt, and the participants walked four kilometers around the Peace Plaza and the Sky Park listening to the songs of YG musicians.
The proceeds will go to Muju YG Foundation and Unicef Korea to help promote the health of children and adolescents and provide treatment for malnutrition.
The after concert emceed by AHN YOUNG MI and OH SANG JIN will begin at 7 PM, and JINUSEAN, EPIK HIGH, LEE HI, AKMU, iKON, and BLACKPINK will put on performances.
