[TV Talk Talk] YANG HYUN SUK, JYP, and You Hee-yeol, Another Great Combination That Everyone Will Miss
[OSEN=박판석 기자] One of the reasons why SBS’s iconic audition program K Pop Star has been so popular for the last six seasons is the three judges. YG Entertainment’s YANG HYUN SUK and JYP’s Park Jin Young, and Antenna Music’s You Hee-yeol have an eye for spotting budding talents as they are all head of labels. They are all great as judges, but in terms of chemistry, there isn’t a better combination. They show respect for each other, but they sometimes tease and compete with each other. It is a pity that viewers will not be able to see the three together after K Pop Star ends.
On April 9, the final round of K Pop Star Season 6 will take place at the Bucheon Gym, and it will be aired live on TV. Kwins and Boyfriend will put on performances and compete to become the winner. Since it is the last season, winners and runner-ups of previous seasons such as AKMU, Katie Kim, Jung Seung Hwan, and Kwon Jina will also come to perform.
In audition programs, judges’ charm is just as important as the participants’ talent. The mega-hit aution program Super Star K also had popular judges such as Lee Seung Chul and Yun Jong Shin, who were able to give good advices and offer constructive criticism. But in case of Super Star K, the winners of the program did not get proper support after the show ended.
This was not a problem for K Pop Star. The heads of entertainment companies came on the show as judges, and they expressed exactly what they were looking for, and after the show ended, took the participants into their companies to help them debut. As a result, K Pop Star became the best audition show in Korea.
No doubt, the three judges played a critical role. YANG HYUN SUK was the one who gave warm advices, Park Jin Young gave sharp critiques using trendy expressions, and You Hee-yeol gave heartfelt advices. Their advices were truly helpful to the participants whose dream was to become singers and idols. To the participants, they were not just judges but also mentors, fellow singers, and heads of entertainment companies who can give them advices about what to expect and how difficult life will become after debut.
Now we won’t be able to hear them judge any more. K Pop Star is at the height of its popularity, but its end is drawing near. Maybe someday, if we’re lucky, we will be able to K Pop Star again.
