[Exclusive] YG’s “The Black Label” is launched in earnest… First by Zion.T!
[스포츠조선=박영웅 기자] YG Entertainment’s “The Black Label” is making a full-fledged beginning.
The Black Label is an independent label under YG, which is established by YG’s main producer TEDDY. Zion.T who is appearing in Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 5” recently as well as producer KUSH belong to the label.
Recently, The Black Label got an independent working space at a building near ionYG office in Seoul. After recruiting producers, The Black Label is now making a full-fledged beginning. It has a vision to make a variety of trials for genre music based on black music, to discover talented rookie artists, and to establish the foundation for creation of new music, under full support from YG.
YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK asked for big anticipation for The Black Label, announcing news about the new label to Sports Chosun on July 15.
YANG HYUN SUK said, “The Black Label centering around TEDDY and KUSH is soon to make a full-fledged beginning. Recently, seven producers joined the label, to complete primary preparation for the launching of the label. As all those new producers are talented ones, you can expect to listen to new and fresh music from them”.
Zion.T will be the first runner for The Black Label.
Zion.T has recently shown great influence in the music scene by releasing new song “KOONG” and “MACHINE GUN” on-line. Under the new label, Zion.T will release the first album he produced since he joined YG. As Zion.T has long worked on the album, it is expected to have differentiated music.
YANG said, “Beginning from the release of Zion.T’s new album, The Black Label will release their own unique music one after another. As TEDDY and KUSH have strong infrastructure for music, the label will exchange with more musicians in a wide variety of genres. I myself have big expectations for the label”.
Just like TABLO’s label HIGHGRND, The Black Label will be run independently from YG. YG is to support HIGHGRND and The Black Label in a multi-directional manner, as well as to enhance the system for music labels in Korea.
“Competitiveness comes from the music of free and unique artists. Each label will be independently run and YG will spare no support”, added YANG.
