“Show Me the Money 3”s winner BOBBY says, “You need big gut to win”
[엑스포츠뉴스=이아영 기자] Rapper BOBBY, the winner of “Show Me the Money 3”, gave tips about how to become the winner, for the rappers of the show’s new season 5.
Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 5” will be aired for the first time on May 13 at 11pm. Winners of the show’s previous seasons who are expressing big anticipation for the season 5 of the show talked about the special meaning of “Show Me the Money” show for them in an interview with the show’s staff.
iKON’s member BOBBY who was the winner of season 3 said, “I became a bolder person thanks to ‘Show Me the Money’ and my talent and skills improved a lot”. BOBBY called “Show Me the Money” “a crisis or opportunity” for him. He also gave an important tip for rappers of the new season, saying, “You need big gut to win. The one with the biggest gut becomes the winner”.
BOBBY who belonged to the team of Dok2 and The Quiett producers also expressed his big expectations for Dok2 and The Quiett who will appear in the new season again as producers. BOBBY recalled his good memories and said, “I still remember how much Dok2 and The Quiett helped me for my performance of ‘L4L’ in season 3. I can’t forget The Quiett’s grape juice and Dok2’s bundle of bills. Plus, of course the water gun”. BOBBY went on to say, “I have the biggest expectations for Dok2 and The Quiett for the new season, too. I have never worked with them since ‘Show Me the Money 3’, so I want to experience the fun of working with them in the new season again. If I competed in the new season, I would pick Dok2 and The Quiett. They are care-free people who let me do what I wanna do. It was fun to work with them, as they made my work richer and fuller”. BOBBY also said, “I also have big anticipation for Zion.T and KUSH team. As I’ve long been a big fan of KUSH, I always wanted to have an opportunity to work with him someday”.
Basick who was the winner of season 4 of “Show Me the Money” said, “After competing in ‘Show Me the Money’, many people recognize me wherever I go. That is the biggest difference between before and after I appeared in the show. Plus, I got a big happiness of doing what I love and making money from it. I really thank the staff of the show. ‘Show Me the Money’ was the turning point in my life”. As for a tip for winning the show, Basick said, “It helps a lot if you have a big pool of verses that you can use any time. I came to compete in ‘Show Me the Money’ show while working for a company, so it was really hard for me to write and memorize the lyrics for every round”. Basick picked Simon Dominic and GRAY as the producers for whom he has the biggest anticipation. Basick explained the reason, “I have a feeling that the two who are hit-makers for AOMG would draw the biggest attention and popularity for the new season”.
Then, SOUL DIVE, the winner of season 2, remembered “Show Me the Money” as “hard but happy memory”. He said, “I got big self-confidence after winning ‘Show Me the Money’. Performing in the show was a lot different from ordinary performances, so I got a new point of view about performance and learned a great deal in short period of time. I can’t think of anything I lost. It was a really good experience. The staff of the show might have felt harder as we’re not funny people. I want to express my gratitude once again for them”. He went on to say, “My first performance ‘HBD’ and semi-final performance ‘영순위’ are the most memorable ones. When I lost the first competition, I realized that ‘Show Me the Money’ was not just for fun but a competition that I must win. For ‘영순위’, I could enjoy the competition itself”.
Regarding the producers for the new season, SOUL DIVE said, “I have big anticipation for the team of Dok2 and The Quiett, as I really enjoyed their work in season 3. I think the team of Gill and Mad Clown will also be fun to see, as the two create an unexpected and unpredictable team”. He added, “I have always liked GRAY’s beat, so I want to work with GRAY someday”. SOUL DIVE finished the interview by giving a tip for the rappers for the new season, saying, “I look forward to the power and talent to be demonstrated by the rappers of the new season on the stage. I thought I should pour out everything in me on the stage, thinking each round was the last opportunity for me. I never imagined I would become the winner, but all I was thinking was how to win the next round. If you do your very best for every round, you will be able to get a step closer to victory”.
