[일간스포츠=황미현 기자] YG Entertainment showed incredible wit in deciding to release “MAMA” by Moon Hee-kyung and SONG MINHO.

On May 7, YG Entertainment CEO YANG HYUN SUK revealed a text message from SONG MINHO on his Instagram page. The text message started with SONG MINHO saying, “I got a Kakaotalk message from Moon Hee-kyung, and she asked me to forward it to you” and was followed by Moon Hee-kyung’s message.

Her message went, “Hello, Mr. Yang. I’m Moon Hee-kyung. Thank you for sending MINHO, he has become a son to me. I think ‘MAMA’ captures the joys and sorrows of all mothers in Korea and relieves them of their stress. I have a small request: can you release this song online? It is my dearest wish. People should be able to listen to such a great song. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision. By the way, I was a big fan of you.”

What was interesting was YANG HYUN SUK’s hashtags. There were the pretty predictable hashtags such as “Hip-hop Nation”, “H.N”, “SONG MINHO”, “MAMA” along with witty hashtags such as “Oh well, SONG MINHO is her son now”, “was a big fan”, and “past tense” to humorously point out that Moon Hee-kyung said that she was once a big fan of him.

YANG HYUN SUK’s reply to SONG MINHO’s text was also hilarious: he texted back “You put her up to this?”

On May 6, Moon Hee-kyung and SONG MINHO performed “MAMA” on JTBC’s Hip-hop Nation, and the song received a huge response. The song is about Moon Hee-kyung dissing her daughter but it also conveys the message of “mom is still young” in a witty way.

Moon Hee-kyung and SONG MINHO showed a great chemistry in their joint performance. The easy-to-follow melody line and lyrics and the addictive hook made the audience go wild. The “am I a rice cooker? You’re act as if you’re the master of the house. I’m just sick, sick, sick of this. Don’t call me mama” part was especially ear-catching.

Their collaboration performance is going viral, and it posted nearly 100,000 Youtube views.
