Just as Leaves Go Green after Cherry Blossoms Fall, AKMU Will Come Back [AKMU’s Comeback③]
[OSEN=정준화 기자] AKMU is set to take the late spring by storm. They will be making a comeback after a two-year break in May. The date of their album release is set, and they will reveal the songs that they’ve been working on so far. It will surely be a refreshing way to kick off the summer.
On April 4, word got out that AKMU is preparing to make a comeback on May 2 through OSEN’s exclusive report. A member of YG staff told OSEN, “AKMU is getting ready to come back on May 2. You can look forward to their new album and songs.”
The response is huge. So far, AKMU has topped the charts numerous times: even with the songs that they performed on SBS’s K-pop Star. Their self-written song “DON’T CROSS YOUR LEGS” was released even before their official debut, but it swept the charts nevertheless.
After their training at YG Entertainment, they have become even more formidable. AKMU produced a number of no.1 songs including “200%”, “MELTED”, and “GIVE LOVE”—the title track of their first album “PLAY”. All the songs of their first album ranked high on the charts at the same time, and they stayed there for quite a while too. Their digital single “TIME AND FALLEN LEAVES”, which was released in the fall of the same year, became no.1 upon release.
This is why expectations are running high for AKMU’s comeback. It is worth taking note that their comeback is to take place in May because AKMU is a team that gives off bright and joyous energy and is perfect for the season of green leaves.
Their lyrics are cheerful yet relatable, showing the unique and innocent way the siblings see the society. Their melodies are trendy and fresh at the same time. It’s no wonder that so many people are waiting for AKMU’s comeback.
Since AKMU has been working on the album for two years, expectations are running especially high for the new album. It is said that they are making two music videos, and this raised the chance of the album having two title tracks. The title tracks are expected to have different appeals like title tracks of their first album: “200” was upbeat and “MELTED” was rather gloomy.
Currently, many musicians have released new songs for the spring season and are in fierce competition. AKMU’s comeback will only add to this competition. Can’t wait to see them.
