LEE SU HYUN of AKMU Lost 7kgs After a Strict Regimen of Vegetarian Diet and Exercise [AKMU’s Comeback②]
[OSEN=손남원 기자] How much will AKMU have changed after their two-year hiatus? The younger of the two, LEE SU HYUN, has certainly changed in terms of appearance. According to a member of YG staff, LEE SU HYUN has lost 7 kilos.
For their comeback, LEE SU HYUN has worked hard to lose weight while making a new album with her brother. She succeeded in losing 7kgs after sticking to a strict regimen of vegetarian diet and regular exercise. Before, she was a bit chubby, but losing 7kilos for a girl of her height, 165 cm, made all the difference.
The staff member told OSEN, “She wasn’t fat, so nobody recommended that she should go on a diet. But she wanted to lose weight so badly and was so determined. That’s why she worked on losing weight and on their new album at the same time.”
YG’s lead producer YANG HYUN SUK handpicked AKMU after the siblings appeared on SBS’s K-Pop Star, and they are considered to be one of the precious gemstone rookies of YG. Earlier on, YG announced that AKMU is going to make a comeback on May 2, and expectations are running high.
Last fall, LEE SU HYUN created a big sensation by creating a project duo with LEE HI, who was also on K-Pop Star. During an interview, she said, “AKMU is really ahead of the times, more so that what people expect. We do a variety of genres and will do more genres in the future.”
Upon debut, AKMU was popular for their folk music, but they are determined to push beyond their limits. At a previous interview, they said, “It might come as a shock if we show everything that we got right now. Even Mr. Yang told us to wait for a while. He suggested that we should take it slow and live up to people’s expectations in the process.”
Therefore, it is highly likely that fans will see a totally new AKMU. YANG HYUN SUK is preparing two title tracks and two music videos for AKMU’s comeback on May 2. This shows that they will not be making a comeback just in their old music style.
Shortly after their debut, LEE SU HYUN commented about AKMU, “We’re still young, and we have a lot of cards up our sleeves. We will be able to slowly show our fans many things. We want to become musicians that are good in every genre in a few years.” That AKMU is making a comeback. LEE SU HYUN has gained international recognition and was even chosen as one of Billboard’s 21 Under 21: Music’s Hottest Minors. She was the only Asian singer on the list.
