[Exclusive] AKMU will come back on May 2… “Finally”
[OSEN=박현민 기자] Brother and sister duo AKMU has confirmed the date of their comeback with the second album on May 2. The team is coming back after two years of absence from the music scene since debut album “PLAY”.
Since the time of the beginning of SBS TV’s “K-Pop Star 5”, AKMU hinted on their comeback. At that time, AKMU said, “We’re preparing for comeback. We wrote good songs, so please look forward to our comeback”, to raise music fans’ anticipation AKMU’s new music.
AKMU’s comeback came to stand under bigger spotlight, as the comeback performance of Bernard Park, the winner of “K-Pop Star 5”, was presented and Sam Kim’s debut performance is scheduled on the 10 this month. Recently, JY Park from JYP Entertainment and Yoo Hee-Yeol from Antenna Music, the judges of “K-Pop Star” show, talked about Bernard Park and Sam Kim of their own companies. As YG’s YANG HYUN SUK also took part in the conversation, people’s curiosity about the comeback of AKMU, the winner of “K-Pop Star Season 2”, also rose.
However, on the day, YG Entertainment’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK just mentioned LEE HI once and did not say anything about AKMU. Afterwards, YG Entertainment’s high-ranking official gave out news about AKMU’s comeback by saying, “AKMU is now working hard on the preparation for their comeback on May 2. I believe you can look forward to the new songs and album that AKMU will present to you”.
Currently, AKMU is known to be shooting two music videos. As LEE HI’s full-album will be released mid-this month, YG’s rookie diamond LEE HI and AKMU discovered in K-Pop Star will perform in the same time period, creating a fresh sensation in Korea’s music scene in this spring.
In the meantime, AKMU decided to join YG after winning “K-Pop Star 2” broadcasted in 2012, and made an official debut in the music scene with 1st album “PLAY” in 2014. In the same year, AKMU successfully hosted their first national tour concert titled “AKMU Camp”.
