[Music Talk Talk] The meaning of 150,000 audience for iKON’s Japan concert tour
[OSEN=선미경 기자]Boy group iKON’s remarkable growth is drawing keen attention once again. It seems that iKON has firmly established its status within six months of their debut not only in Korea’s music scene but also on the global stage.
iKON boasted their already-firm presence in the pop-music world by sweeping top places on music charts and in TV music shows upon their debut in October last year and also by receiving rookie of the year awards for the year 2015. The team has already proven their big potential and presence in Korea. Notably, iKON has shown their outstanding talent in song-writing by filling their debut album with songs they wrote on their own. iKON is already recognized as a musician, not just an idol singer who only sings and performs on the stage.
The big popularity of iKON seems to have spread to Japan. iKON recorded more than 50,000 sales of their debut album on the day of its release in January, to take No.1 on Oricon chart. iKON also held concert in Budokan, the Mecca of concerts in Japan, in the shortest period of time since debut for a foreign artist.
iKON’s Japan arena tour that marked its grand finale on March 15 also bears a significant meaning for the team. iKON attracted total 146,000 fans to 14 concert in five cities in Japan, within six months of their debut in Korea, when it has barely been three months since their debut in Japan. Such an achievement is hard to make even for veteran idol singers, but iKON brought their Japan arena tour to a great success right after their debut. That shows how big potential and fandom iKON has.
iKON presented a formidable potential by holding their debut concert in Korea at Olympic Gymnastics Arena and then holding another concert in four months. As iKON has shown a solid growth since their debut by taking both Korea and Japan by storm, many music fans are now paying keen attention to their future career.
