[Yesterday TV] WINNER Appears on You Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook and Shows that They Have Become a Seasoned Idol Group

When they first appeared on the show in 2014, they were awkward as they were a rookie and even showed tears feeling that they didn’t do well enough. But two years have passed since then, and now they seemed confident and easy on the stage.
On the February 19 episode of You Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook, WINNER performed their debut song “EMPTY” and their new single “BABY BABY”. They enthralled the audience with their powerful singing and flawless stage manners.
After their performance, they had a little talk time with the emcee You Hee-yeol. They were able to give witty answers to his tough questions. As soon as they were seated, You Hee-yeol commented, “KANG SEUNGYOON stood out too much on the stage. He swirled and sang in a high note in the climax of the song” and asked him to do it again. KANG SEUNGYOON didn’t hesitate to repeat what he did and made the audience laugh.
WINNER is closely linked to survival shows. The group debuted on Mnet’s WIN, and its member KANG SEUNGYOON became famous after his appearance on Mnet’s Superstar K. LEE SEUNGHOON was selected to join YG on SBS’s K-Pop Star. SONG MINO was the runner-up on Mnet’s Show Me The Money 4. Almost all the members have abundant experience in survival shows. That’s why they were able to give practical advice to those who want to debut through audition shows.
KANG SEUNGYOON commented, “The first thing you need is the ability to react quickly. In an audition show, you have to let go of your pride and absorb everything and make it your own.” LEE SEUNGHOON said, “I only targeted one judge. I did the survival show thinking that I would not go anywhere else other than YG.” He also made a joke saying, “But YG is full now. It took us one year and a half to release our next album, so my advice is go to Antenna Music.”
They also mimicked YANG HYUN SUK. They imitated the way YANG HYUN SUK listens to music and the way he talks, making the audience burst into laughter.
When they first appeared on You Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook, KIM JINWOO cried saying, “I work hard but I’m not as good.” But, this time around, they were not sad or nervous and tense. They have indeed become a seasoned idol group, and that’s why we’re happy to see them back.
