[People IS] What is G-DRAGON’s standing like in the global fashion scene?

[일간스포츠=김진석 기자] Everyone knows that G-DRAGON has a big standing in the fashion world. Then, how big his influence in the fashion scene would be? Last year, U.K.’s fashion media outlet Business of Fashion selected 500 most influential people in today’s global fashion industry. Four out of those 500 were Koreans including G-DRAGON, and G-DRAGON was the only entertainer among the four. Plus, only four out of those 500 were musicians: Kanye, Rihanna, Li Yuchun (Chris Lee), and G-DRAGON.

That shows the fact that G-DRAGON’s influence in the fashion scene is recognized not only in Korea but also around the world. Notably, G-DRAGON covered the global edition of Business of Fashion, along with eight celebrities.

G-DRAGON’s big influence in the world’s fashion industry is already well-known. G-DRAGON attended the 2015 S/S men’s collection of Saint Laurent held in Paris, France, last year. G-DRAGON was the only Asian star who took part in the show.

In 2013, G-DRAGON’s flagship fashion sense was recognized by a world-famous men’s magazine; GQ magazine included G-DRAGON in the list of 10 best dressed men. Some world-class stars including Gabriel Mann, Harry Styles, Gerard Butler, Jake Gyllenhaal, Victor Cruz, Jeremy Piven, Ethan Hawke, David Gandy, and Liam Hemsworth were included in the list along with G-DRAGON.

G-DRAGON’s influence in the fashion world continues this year as well. G-DRAGON’s attendance at this year’s Chanel show was covered by major foreign news outlets such as American New York Times and U.K.’s Telegraph.

‘Vogue magazine shed big spotlight on G-DRAGON’s attendance in the Chanel show, by publishing a news article titled “G-DRAGON was the Best Dressed Man at Chanel”.

America’s leading daily newspaper New York Times also mentioned G-DRAGON’s influence by saying, “… the star attraction proved to be G-Dragon, a South Korean pop star-turned-rapper…”

G-DRAGON was the only Korean entertainer who appeared in Chanel 2016 S/S Haute Couture Collection held at Grand Palais in Paris at invitation of Carl Lagerfeld. G-DRAGON stood under a big spotlight by showing off his remarkable presence not dwarfed by world’s top stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Monica Bellucci.
