YG said, “YANG HYUN SUK and Kang Dong-won had a meeting and reached some agreement” [Official announcement]
[OSEN=최나영 기자] YG Entertainment (“YG”) announced their official stance about rumors of top star Kang Dong-won’s contract with YG Entertainment (“YG”), saying, “It was not an official project of the company. I personally checked on the 8 in the morning and found out that president YANG HYUN SUK had a meeting with Kang Dong-won. Even though no official contract was signed yet, the two seemed to have agreed to work together”.
YG’s high-ranking official gave a careful answer about YG’s contract with Kang Dong-won, saying, “When we read a new report (about Kang Dong-won’s exclusive contract with YG), all the staff of the company were surprised. I heard that president YANG HYUN SUK has met KANG recently for a few times and talked about their vision for movies. Currently, CEO YANG MIN SUK is responsible for management of actors and actresses. Kang has not signed a contract with the CEO yet, but I assume that the two have reached some agreement”.
Considering the fact that YANG HYUN SUK directly met actor Kang Dong-won and said, “It was really good. Kang is an excellent actor”, it is highly likely that the two will actually sign the contract.
A media outlet reported that Kang was negotiating for details of his contract with YG, to draw a big attention.
After the termination of Kang’s contact with his former agency in November last year, Kang became the most sought-after target for actor agencies in Korea for the year 2016. Kang is known to have meetings with large entertainment agencies.
Kang Dong-won recorded a big hit with his film “The Priests” last year. His another movie “A Violent Prosecutor” is soon to be released. Kang will also act in film “Master” this year, to record even bigger success.
