[Interview④] KANG DONG WON Says, “YANG HYUN SUK doesn’t interfere, not even a bit. We have a drink now and then and say hello over the phone.”
“There’s still distance between YANG HYUN SUK and me, but I have deep trust in him.”
[매일경제스타투데이=한현정 기자] KANG DONG WON talks about how he is getting along with the head of his agency, YANG HYUN SUK.
Maeil Business Newspaper Star Today interviewed KANG DONG WON at a café in Samchung-dong in the afternoon of December 15. We asked KANG DONG WON, “How do you get along with the head of your agency, YANG HYUN SUK?” He replied, “I still feel there is some distance between us, but I’m certain that he’s a trustworthy man.”
He went on to say, “Basically, I don’t trust people easily. And, I don’t make friends easily. I’m not a guy that is good at expressing emotions, so YANG HYUN SUK may feel disappointed sometimes.”
“He suggested that we should get together and have a drink and go on trips even when we get old. The way he interacts with people and the way he thinks, we’re very similar in that way. We’ll have to see, but I’m sure of one thing, and that is he’s a man of his word. He doesn’t bluff or make unrealistic promises. There are people who appear to be one thing, but really is quite another, especially in this industry. This is why it’s hard for me to trust people. But, you can learn a lot from YANG HYUN SUK. He’s a real man and a man of depth” added KANG DONG WON.
When we asked him to tell us a story showing that YANG HYUN SUK is a man of his word, KANG DONG WON said, “He told me that he wouldn’t interfere if I join YG. And he really doesn’t. Not a bit.”
KANG DONG WON also commented, “He doesn’t tell me what to do in terms of work, and he really listens to my opinion. We have a drink now and then and say hello over the phone. We’ve become close as individuals, but he doesn’t’ try to tell me what to do about my work.”
He added, “YANG HYUN SUK has a great eye and a lot of experience. He is also a big thinker. When I talk to him, I feel that he has wit and gives me inspiration.”
Master (directed by Jo Hee Suk) is a crime action movie about an intellectual crime investigator (played by KANG DONG WON) chasing the biggest conman in history (played by Lee Byung-hun) and a computer expert that tries to take advantage of the situation(played by Kim Woo-bin).
KANG DONG WON played the part of Kim Jae Myung, who is a smart, sophisticated police investigator. He is too righteous for his own good, and sometimes creates awkward situations. But he throws himself to catch the criminal. The movie premiers on December 21.
