[Music Talk Talk] Expectations Rise as the Release of iKON’s Full Album Becomes Delayed
[OSEN=정유진 기자] Expectations are running higher now that it got put off. That’s how the fans feel about iKON’s first full album after waiting for so long. iKON, who has swept almost all the male rookie of the year awards this year and proven that they are indeed the “monster rookie, announced the date of their album’s release.
According to YG Entertainment’s announcement on December 12, iKON’s first full album will be released on December 24. YG’s original plan was to release iKON’s debut album on November 14 but it was put off. They are delaying the release once again for about a month.
Earlier on, YG made big changes to iKON’s debut project. Accordingly, iKON released their digital single album “WELCOME BACK” in November, and its tracks “APOLOGY” “ANTHEM” became a big hit.
The release of iKON’s first full album was delayed because B.I wrote another title track. YG said, “When we were almost done with the album, B.I wrote another title song. We had to shoot the music video for the new title track, and that’s why we had to change the release date to December 24.”
iKON debuted in September, and their debut song “MY TYPE” swept the charts. They released “RHYTHM TA” in October and “APOLOGY” in November, an unusual debut project for a rookie. The release of their full album on December 24 will mark an end to their successful debut project.
Also, although it was not their intention, releasing their full album on Christmas Eve will make iKON’s album a meaningful present for the fans. YG raised the expectations for the album by saying, “The new song written by B.I was so good that we had to include it in the album and delay the release.”
iKON is a team that always tries a variety of genres. They are so flexible that they can perform lyrical and emotional songs like “MY TYPE” and “APOLOGY” as well as intense hip hop songs like “RHYTHM TA” and “ANTHEM. Also, as B.I has the talent to write hit songs like “MY TYPE”, the new title track written by him will be another reason to look forward to iKON’s first full album.
