[Music Talk Talk] “Comeback D-4″… The sophisticated feel of early winter to be brought by iKON

Boy group iKON is raising music fans’ expectations for their comeback, by unveiling part of the lyrics of their new song “APOLOGY”. As iKON has been presenting songs of different genres in their debut albums, music fans are paying keen attention to what kind of new song iKON will present this time.
iKON will release two new songs on the 16 this month: official title track “APOLOGY” and “ANTHEM”, a song of B.I and BOBBY’s unit team. “ANTHEM” presents an intense charisma, while “APOLOGY” looks like a song of a tender and sophisticated feelings. As such, the two songs have starkly contrasting appeals. Part of the two songs’ lyrics which were unveiled before the release of the songs themselves are also quite impressive.
The charismatic poster of “ANTHEM”, a song of iKON’s rapper B.I and BOBBY, is hinting on an intense rap. The song begins “iKON is coming to town” and goes on like “No matter how you think you’re successful, I’ll beat you. At the moment you become complacent, you’ll be beaten by me”. In addition, the wit of borrowing the rhythm and words of Korean traditional folk songs and applying them to a hip-hop music stands out.
Notably, as “ANTHEM” is a song directly created by the duo of B.I and BOBBY, a variety of idioms that describe a perfect match are used in the lyrics of the song, showing the wit of the duo.
On contrary, as for “APOLOGY”, part of the song’s sentimental lyrics that goes “Having left no one photo of us, we’re just full of myself until the very last moment” was unveiled on a teaser poster of B.I who is making a lonely and complicated facial expression. B.I turned himself into a rapper with tender feelings from the charismatic and powerful rapper in “ANTHEM”. Thus, music fans are showing high expectations for the contradicting appeals to be shown by B.I and BOBBY in “ANTHEM” and “APOLOGY”.
“APOLOGY” is an R&B song with a slow tempo, which expresses a man’s sorrow and pain of breaking up with his lover. The lyrics of the song were directly written by B.I and BOBBY, just as “ANTHEM”. Notably, YG’s main producer TEDDY took part in composition and arrangement of the two songs. It is the first time for him to take part in iKON’s music. As TEDDY has already led BIGBANG’s “MADE” series to a great success, music fans are now paying keen attention to what kind of music he created for iKON.
iKON swept music charts with their debut warm-up single “MY TYPE” released in September. It is a very rare case of success for such a rookie group, which was possible based on the quality of the tender and sweet song which had a new feel different from iKON’s existing image. “RHYTHM TA” that was released after “MY TYPE” was a totally different hip-hip song, which well-revealed iKON’s identity as a powerful hip-hop singer.
iKON will once again present their contradicting appeals for their new single. Music fans are now paying keen attention to whether the intense hip-hop and sentimental R&B to be presented by iKON will captivate the music scene in this early winter season once again.
