PSY is sweeping No.1 on major domestic music charts after coming back with his seventh full-length album “PSY 7TH ALBUM” three years and five months after the previous full album. As major foreign media outlets are making headlines with PSY’s comeback news, his big popularity overseas has been proven once again.
PSY’s new album “PSY 7TH ALBUM” release on December 1 at 0 o’clock has two title songs: “NAPAL BAJI” and “DADDY”. The two songs are in No.1 and No.2 places on the chart of total seven music-streaming websites: Melon, Genie, Olleh, Mnet, NAVER Music, Monkey 3, and Soribada. Plus, “Dream”, a song known as dedicated to the late Shin Hae-chul, is in No.1 place on Bugs. With such records, PSY’s new songs are sweeping top places on the charts of eight music-streaming websites in Korea. With “PSY” and “PSY NAPAL BAJI” taking the first and second places on search engines’ real-time search-word lists upon their release, PSY is creating sensation on-line.
To live up to his title as “global singer”, PSY is creating sensation oversea as well. Major foreign media outlets such as American Billboard, FUSE TV, MTV, Rolling Stone, BBC, etc. are making headlines with PSY’s comeback news, giving favorable feedbacks.
FUSE TV reported PSY’s comeback by mentioning him in an article titled “PSY Just Dropped a New Album: 7 Things You Need to Know”, saying that participation of famous foreign artists such as Ed Sheeran and will.i.am in PSY’s new album has raised anticipation for PSY’s comeback even higher. Rolling Stone also shed spotlight on PSY’s new song “DADDY”, saying, “South Korean singer PSY broke the Internet in 2012 with his over-the-top “Gangnam Style” video… Now the K-pop goofball is back with “Daddy,” another slab of brash…”
Scooter Braun who helped PSY’s success in America posted “DADDY”’s music video on his Twitter, showing his keen interest in PSY’s new album.
PSY’s “PSY 7TH ALBUM” that is drawing keen attention from in and out of the country as such is drawing all the more attention, as Korean super stars including Zion.T, CL, JYJ’s XIA Junsu, Jeon In-kwon, and GAEKO, as well as global stars including will.i.am and Ed Sheeran feature for it. From songs that express PSY’s unique sensibility and other songs with PSY’s flagship playfulness, songs of different genres and styles are filling the new album.
