[OSEN=강서정 기자] SONG MIN HO. He unfortunately could not stand at the top this time, but he certainly proved his ability as a rapper. Becoming a champion would have been the best way to prove it, but the result speaks otherwise. He surely proved his rapping talents to many.

On the show aired through Mnet on Aug 28, SONG MIN HO competed against Basick. He ended up being the runner up, but SONG certainly showed everything he could on the last stage. Anyone who had seen it would know he is an incredible rapper.

In fact SONG was criticized from the first episode by another rapper Black Nut, who sarcastically predicted that SONG is already reserved as a champion. So it was only natural for people to predict that SONG will be the final champion. The reason behind such prediction was SONG belonged to a giant entertainment agency, YG. Because of this, people were harsh from the very beginning. Many reacted negatively to SONG, especially for the lyrics he wrote. He was the target for every rapper.

SONG improved every episode and even dominated the stage with his rapping, but the public’s view was still harsh on him. It perhaps showed heightened expectations after season 3, when BOBBY from iKON became the champion. There was only one way to get rid of the noise. By showcasing something so good that no one will be able say anything.

SONG was a strong candidate in this season. He not only could rap, but he could also perform like an artist. He had been a trainee for a while and the accumulated experience was shown as showmanship on stage. His dynamic performance on stage became his biggest strength.

And he championed semi-final, which was against Black Nut who had been bothering him the entire time. Black Nut also recognized his talents. He commented, “I was being sarcastic when I said the winner will be SONG MIN HO, but now I mean it.” It shows that even Black Nut now acknowledges that SONG climbed up to this point with his own talents, not popularity.

So SONG was up on the final stage. He stood against Basick. Basick was surely not an easy competitor. SONG rapped, “Show Me the Money, Show MINHO Money,” but he looked nervous. But SONG did everything he can. He dominated the stage in the first round by performing the dynamic “okey dokey.” In the performance of “Victim + Cheers” he said, “I said I’m ok but I was nervous. I wanted to overcome the heavy pressure.”

Although he was not named the champion this time, his talents were relentlessly unveiled. It was a shame that he did not win, but now people know how much of a talent he is. That’s the biggest harvest for the newbie rapper, and it was an amazing chance for the public to see him from a different perspective.
