YG’s Future Rises from BOBBY
[OSEN=정준화 기자] Despite his mischievous smile, BOBBY is dubbed a “monster.” Even without a proper debut, songs that he features in already become huge hits. This proves that he already secures a solid fan base. Appearing on many different audition programs, his talents have been recognized. And when he seized the trophy on “Show Me the Money 3,” he was reborn as a “monster.”
YG kicked off its “Hiphop Project,” beginning with a unit consisting of GD and TAEYANG. BOBBY will be following the path as part of the 2nd Hiphop project. He is just a newbie who didn’t even make an official debut, but to many, it only seems natural. It is indeed.
On Dec 2, YG unveiled the 2nd project of BOBBY, DOK2 and MASTA WU with their new track “COME HERE.” The combination of these three aroused much attention even before it was unveiled, and just as expected, the track went through the roof by sweeping all charts.
For YG, BOBBY was a card that never failed. Featuring in EPIK HIGH’s “BORN HATER,” HI SUHYUN’s “I’M DIFFERENT,” his presence certainly helped these songs become a hit. Apart from that, his songs unveiled on “Show Me the Money 3” also stood at the very top of charts for an extended period of time, attracting explosive amount of attention.
It is shocking that these accomplishments are made before his debut.
His future looks even brighter, thanks to his teammates. Next January, iKON will be making a debut. On Mnet’s audition program “MIX & MATCH” and “WIN,” the upcoming group has already been recognized for their extraordinary talents.
WINNER, who made a debut this year, is also their reliable friends. YG once hinted, “After these two groups make a debut, they will be put in a rivalry, competing against each other again.” Being both rivals and friends, they have certainly grown fond of each other after many battles. WINNER’s debut album was just a preview of the synergy they will showcase from now on. Choosing “EMPTY,” a track in which BOBBY and B.I was involved, as their title track, they actively promoted their album. Not only did they sweep across charts but also became the artist to rank #1 in the shortest period of time after debut.
By including his thoughts and criticism of the world in his rapping, BOBBY makes the lyrics more significant. In songs he wrote like “Put Your Guards Up and Bounce,” he has been pouring out his thoughts to the world. He criticized those talent-less artists who are just handsome or pretty. If this “monster” actually comes out in the music world, what will happen? How will he position himself between idols and rappers? It will be interesting to see.
