[Exclusive] YANG gives full prize money to BOBBY for his mother
[OSEN=손남원 기자] Rapper BOBBY, whose dream was to “buy a house for mother who worked so hard,” is a step closer to achieving it. On Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 3” aired on Sept 4, BOBBY championed the final competition and received a prize of 100 million won. However, YG refused to receive a portion of the prize as the agency fee.
Personnel from YG told OSEN on Sept 6, “Our Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK, after hearing BOBBY’s victory on the show, specifically ordered to give the champion the entire fee without taking away any kinds of fees. He has been harsh to BOBBY during training period, but he has always kept in mind BOBBY’s unfortunate background and the filial piety he showed for his parents.”
It is rare for a trainee to receive a benefit in a financial form for his activities, but receiving it in full is unprecedented. YG is known for making prompt payments to the artists who belong to the agency.
BOBBY once mentioned his mother, who had worked hard her whole life to support the success of her son. On “Show Me the Money” aired last month on 28th, BOBBY broke the heart of many when he said, “I am separated from my mother because I moved to Korea to achieve my dream. It’s been 4 years since the last time I saw her. It makes me smile when I see her photo on my brother’s social media account. I miss her everyday.”
BOBBY’s move to Korea was to help his parents who were in a financially difficult circumstance, and he has been separated for 4 years. He commented, “Seizing victory is the shortcut to see my mother. I will bring my parents here no matter what.”
His love for his parents can also been in his performance. In “YGGR#Hip Hop,” his powerful rapping conveys a message of love to his parents.
“I’ll be your glasses, look carefully, Look who’s on stage and not you, Look at why a foreign worker with no money or a home,”…” Bear with your reality that has no future But I’ll drench my clothes with my sweat, You can glare at me while I make money.” … “proudly make money so I can meet my mom, Our family was struggling because of money, Just like the name I made, it’s BOB-BY now, I started from the bottom and now it’s time to build a house, I don’t care if I get eliminated, just show me the money…“
A big smile spread on BOBBY’s face when he beat Iron in the final round and seized victory. His final performance was “Guard Up and Bounce,” a song with a forthright message on some idol artists who damage the reputation of the rest of the idols. His rapping championed Iron by far in both 1st and 2nd rounds of vote, becoming the very top. His song unveiled on music sites the following day topped charts, continuing on with the “trainee’s legend.”
Now he is a step closer to realizing his dream of bringing his mother to Korea and buying her a house, ultimately living in the same space happily.
