“Rookie” WINNER Has Secret for Dominating 9 Music Charts
[스타뉴스 이지현 기자] YG Entertainment (“YG”)’s new boy group WINNER (KIM JIN WOO, NAM TAE HYUN, KANG SEUNG YOON, SONG MIN HO, and LEE SEUNG HOON) produced for the first time in eight years after BIGBANG, is sweeping music charts upon their debut.
“empty”, one of the double title tracks of WINNER’s debut album “2014 S/S” that was released on on-line music-streaming websites at 0 o’clock on the 12 this month, is in the top place on the real-time chart of total nine music websites including Melon, Mnet, Genie, Olleh Music, Bugs, Soribada, Monkey 3, Naver Music, and Daum Music.
Along with “empty”, another title track “Color Ring”, as well as “Don’t’ flirt”, “I’m him”, and “But” are in top 10 places on most of the real-time charts including that of Mnet, Naver Music, Daum Music, Olleh Music, and Genie.
Then, why are WINNER’s songs standing under the big spotlight? The reason is the quality of their music and fandom.
WINNER members actively took part in their debut album that contains total 10 songs. KANG SEUNG YOON, SONG MIN HO, and LEE SEUNG HOON wrote the lyrics and melody of “Color Ring”, one of the double title tracks. Notably, SONG MIN HO wrote the lyrics of most of the songs in the album. As such, WINNER members are exerting their artistic talent from the very moment of their debut.

WINNER’s domination of music charts with their debut songs is attributable to such a perfect quality of their album, as well as their enormous fandom.
WINNER built a strong fandom in a short period of time, through cable channel Mnet’s survival audition show “WHO IS NEXT: WIN” (“WIN”) aired in August last year. WINNER was Team A at that time and they fiercely competed with Team B, to realize their dream to debut as a singer. Their hard work and crave for their dream captivated the viewers, back then.
