[enews24 김지연 기자] TABLO would be astonished at how much things have changed for him recently. He was once showered in spotlights for his incredible musical talents and spectacular educational background, but on the spur of the moment, they became a heavy chain on his ankles. The controversy of his academic background at Stanford University left his life in deep agony and depression.

During those harsh times, a silver lining came upon him when he became a husband and a father. And in 2014, as an artist and a person who bulldozed through the hard times, he returned on TV programs.

As a father, he appears on KBS2’s “Happy Sunday—Superman Is Back,” while as an artist, he will be appearing on Mnet’s rapper survival program “Show Me the Money 3” that is to be aired for the first time on July 3.

When returning in November 2011, after a long period of no musical activities, he commented, “If the controversy took place when I was by myself, my family would not have gotten hurt.” But the TABLO we met on June 25 at the program presentation of “Show Me the Money 3” was more grown up. Perhaps it’s because he became a father and a head of the family.

He said, “I am used to being criticized by people. It’s like I’m destined to be criticized. So honestly, I don’t care about it anymore.”

His comment shows how much he has changed internally. On “Superman,” where he appears with his daughter Haru, he unveils the “daddy” side of himself without any filtering. On the show, he is like any husbands who become small in front of his wife, Kang Hye Jung, while being a father who is head over heals for his daughter. His genuine self on TV is well received by many viewers.

If “Superman” were a show that unveiled his personal charms, “Show Me the Money 3” would be a program that will disclose his remarkable musical talents.

TABLO commented, “Haru doesn’t fully understand that I will be part of this show. Haru thinks singing is all I do when I leave the house. Nowadays she is all happy thinking that I go out a lot to sing.”

He added, “When I had more free time, I would show her things and explain that her dad does these things. But now she can see for herself. I can tell that while she is sad that we have less time to spend together, she knows that her dad enjoys what he does. It doesn’t matter what program, I feel joy and happiness when I work. I am blessed.”

He will be unleashing his musical talents as a rapper on “Show Me the Money 3.” In 2014, he is surely walking on a path of success, striking a perfect balance between work and family lives.
