World star PSY, will he benefit from the World Cup?
[OSEN=권지영 기자] As the global star PSY’s comeback approaches, many are curious to see whether his new song will bring another round of viral sensation combined with the dynamic atmosphere of the Brazil World Cup.
Until now, PSY made the listeners around the world dance along his B-class songs. And for a month from June 13 to July 14—around the time of PSY’s return—the Brazil World Cup will be held in 12 cities including Sao Paolo and Curitiba, and it is already creating much hype around the world under its appropriate slogan “All In Rhythm.”
PSY releasing his new song on iTunes and YouTube means that he has the whole world as his stage, going beyond South Korea. On May 31 “GANGNAM STYLE” hit 2 billion views, and foreign media are spotlighting him once again. His promotion already being conducted with flying colors, PSY seems very lucky to clash with the heat of 2014 Brazil World Cup.
As the upcoming “HANGOVER” is hiphop-influenced—completely different to “GANGNAM STYLE” and “GENTLEMAN”—PSY is geared to reignite the world with his fun rap. Plus, with the help of the hiphop legend Snoop Dogg, it has become easier for him to enter the hiphop market. After all the rumors about his return, PSY is finally making a comeback, and many are curious to see the synergy effect the world star will create with the incredibly lucky timing.
On June 8 at 7 pm (eastern time), PSY will be appearing on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” with Snoop Dogg to introduce and showcase the M/V of advance-release song, “HANGOVER.” The video will then be uploaded on PSY’s official YouTube channel, and at midnight of June 9 (1 pm of the same day in Korea), the song will be exclusively unveiled through iTunes all across the world.
