[Exclusive] AKMU to be guest artist at IU’s concert
[OSEN=임승미 기자] The “national baby sister” and “national siblings” are to perform on the same stage. They are IU and AKDONG MUSICIAN (AKMU). At a recent interview, LEE SOO HYUN from AKMU, a sibling duo that came to sudden prominence in the music world this spring, revealed she is a huge fan of IU. And thus a beautiful bond between the two began when IU responded to this by personally asking LEE SOO HYUN to perform as a guest artist at her concert.
According to personnel in the music industry, AKMU will be performing as a guest artist for one day at IU’s series of first small-scale exclusive concerts “Just One Step… That Much More” that is to be held next week. YG Entertainment, hearing the news from LEE SOO HYUN, accepted the offer without hesitation.
LEE SOO HYUN, the little sister of the sibling duo, mentioned her affection for IU several times in interviews. It is said that IU also had a great interest for AKMU, and after reading articles about the duo, decided to personally ask them to partake in her concert.
IU, who kicked off her first concert on May 22, will perform a total of 8 concerts until June 1. For two weeks she is scheduled to perform from Thursday to Sunday. She is attracting much attention of the fans with her dynamic performances, as she is known for hitting three high notes.
AKMU, who is to perform at her concert also with the intention of cheering her on, is a newbie duo showered in spotlight this spring.
In just a week after the release of their album, AKMU topped Melon’s “Artist Top 20” and “Album Top 20” (April 7-13), while sweeping across charts until the 2nd week of May (May 5-11) – keeping the top position for whopping 5 weeks in the category.
Their newest album “PLAY” was written, composed and produced entirely by LEE CHAN HYUK. It is extremely well received by the public, and still much loved.
