PSY’s “GANGNAM STYLE” about to reach 2 billion views on YouTube
[동아닷컴=홍세영 기자] PSY’s mega-viral song “GANGNAM STYLE” is on the verge of setting a new record—again.
His music video, at 7:40 am on May 24, recorded 1.995 billion views on YouTube. This is a new record set in 2 months since February when it surpassed 1.9 billion. 5 million to go until it hits 2 billion views.
As the exciting number nears, the viewer rate is increasing fast. Thus it is expected to hit 2 billion views soon.
“GANGNAM STYLE” unveiled on July 15 in 2012 attracted 100 million views in just 51 days, while breaking the record of YouTube by hitting 1 billion views on December 22 in the same year for attracting the highest number in the shortest period of time.
The follow-up song “GENTLEMAN” unveiled on April 13 was selected as the most-watched video of 2013, and its viewer number recently surpassed 686 million.
PSY is currently working on his new album.
