Psy ranks #1 & 2 on America’s Top 10 K-Pop list 2013
[머니투데이 스타뉴스 김현록 기자] Which is the biggest-selling K-Pop song in the United States?
The recently uploaded 2013’s Biggest-Selling K-Pop Songs in America on Billboard Online News revealed that Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Gentleman’ at the top two amongst 10 K-Pop songs that garnered much popularity in the United States in 2013.
Categorizing by entertainment agencies, YG Entertainment ranked the highest with listing whopping 7 songs amongst 10. BIGBANG’s ‘Fantastic Baby’ ranked #3, while 2NE1’s ‘I Am The Best’ at #6, and CL’s ‘The Baddest Female’ at #7. Psy’s ‘Right Now’ stood at #8, and 2NE1’s ‘Falling in Love’ at #10.
Apart from this, artists from SM Entertainment filled out the rest. Girls’ Generation’s ‘I Got A Boy’ ranked #4, while recently emerged EXO’s ‘Growl’ at #5 and their other song ‘Wolf’ ranking #9.
The list attracts much attention because it not only includes songs from this year, but also the ones from the previous year and 2 years ago as well, such as ‘Gangnam Style’, ‘Fantastic Baby’, ‘I Am The Best’ and ‘Right Now. This means that the relatively old songs are still selling well in the United States.
BIGBANG’s ‘Fantastic Baby’ followed the top two by the world star Psy, and Billboard commented that even though this particular song was released last year, it is a song that is mot approachable and audience-friendly for the fans in the United States, and thus was able to beat all other new songs released this year and stood at #3.
