FROM KANG SEUNG YOON TO AKDONG MUSICIAN – YG ENTERTAINMENT, A TRUE TRAINING SCHOOL FOR AUDITION PROGRAM STARS
[OSEN=손남원 기자] From LEE HI to KANG SEUNG YOON, YG Entertainment is writing a success story by making the songs of audition program stars to top the real-time music charts.
LEE HI, who came in second in the SBS “KPOP STAR” real survival audition program, topped the music charts last fall when she first debuted and also earlier this year with a new song. On the other hand, KANG SEUNG YOON, who came in fourth in the Mnet “Superstar K2” audition program, also topped the music charts with his new single “IT RAINS.” YG Entertainment’s LEE HI and KANG SEUNG YOON’s consecutive home runs in the music chars are being considered as successful case in the music industry, when it is rare for audition program stars to make a big hit in the music charts.
After gaining popularity from “Superstar K2,” KANG signed a contract with YG Entertainment as a trainee. With his debut song, KANG is ranking first in music charts three days in a row, making a huge hit. On July 18, KANG’s new song, “IT RAINS,” topped major real-time music charts, including Melon, Mnet, Bugs, Soribada, Olleh, and Daum.
“IT RAINS” is a rock ballad song that captivated music fans’ hearts with its melody and lyrics that fit perfectly with the rainy season. YG Entertainment picked a perfect timing and song for KANG’s debut, which showed YG Entertainment’s great PR ability.
Making an amazing debut with the song “IT RAINS” after long years of training period, KANG attracted much attention by revealing a surprising video message on YG Entertainment’s official blog site (www.yg-life.com) to thank his fans.
