“The King’s Return Is Imminent” YG’s BIGBANG to Fire ‘20th Anniversary’ Celebration at Coachella
[OSEN=지민경 기자]Group BIGBANG is finally returning. As they herald the “king’s return” through the Coachella stage in the U.S. to mark their 20th debut anniversary, the members have even spoiled their practice scenes themselves, sending global music fans’ anticipation soaring to the skies.
BIGBANG is set to take the main stage at the “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival” (hereafter “Coachella”), the world’s largest music festival, held in Indio, California, on the 12th and 19th. They are expected to prove their overwhelming presence. The members departed for the U.S. on the 3rd and 4th.
On the 9th, just days before the Coachella stage, TAEYANG uploaded several photos on his social media without any caption, raising fans’ heart rates. The released images captured TAEYANG immersed in Coachella rehearsals, along with the BIGBANG logo clearly displayed on a monitor and name tags bearing the members’ names, stirring deep emotion.
Previously, G-DRAGON also drew attention on the 21st of last month by posting a brief caption, “In deep thought,” along with a photo of himself checking choreography from behind in a large practice studio. In the center of the image was a ticket reading “BIGBANG DESERT LIVE BACKSTAGE,” while the background LED prominently displayed “COACHELLALALA,” hinting that intense preparations for Coachella were underway.
In addition, on the 8th, BIGBANG’s official YouTube channel surprised fans by releasing a Coachella teaser video featuring a red flag with the BIGBANG logo waving against a desert backdrop, pushing the excitement of global fans who had been waiting for their comeback to its peak.
This Coachella stage holds special significance as it marks the grand opening of BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary activities and serves as the first step of a large-scale project reunited with their home agency, YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment recently officially announced BIGBANG’s return to activities through its official blog. Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK stated, “We have agreed with the BIGBANG members to hold performances,” adding, “Since we have worked together for a long time, I don’t expect any difficulties. All YG staff will do their best to create a perfect and outstanding performance,” showcasing their strong “YG family” bond.
In particular, YG provided full support to ensure that G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, and DAESUNG could fully use the group name “BIGBANG” on the Coachella stage.
Having finally broken their long hiatus and officially kicked off their 20th anniversary journey, attention is now focused on what kind of catharsis BIGBANG will deliver on the Coachella stage and how they will captivate the world once again.
