BABYMONSTER Hits 200 Million Views with ‘SHEESH’ Performance Video Ahead of July Come
[뉴스엔=황혜진 기자] With their comeback just around the corner on July 1 with “HOT SAUCE,” BABYMONSTER continues to rack up massive view counts, even with performance videos.
According to their agency YG Entertainment on June 23, the performance video for BABYMONSTER’s official debut track “SHEESH” surpassed 200 million views on YouTube at approximately 6:04 AM that day. It achieved the milestone about 1 year and 2 months after its release on April 5.
This is a rare feat considering it’s a choreography video, not an official music video. The group is solidifying their presence as the next-generation “YouTube Queens” by expanding their influence on the platform, a key hub in the global music market. Their official channel currently boasts 9.43 million subscribers and has accumulated over 4.7 billion total views.
With this, BABYMONSTER now has five videos with over 200 million views among their ten YouTube contents that have surpassed 100 million. In addition to “SHEESH” (300 million), which broke the record for the fastest debut song by a K-pop girl group to reach the mark, other videos like “BATTER UP” (300 million), “FOREVER” (200 million), and “DRIP” (200 million) have achieved similar results.
The “SHEESH” performance video was praised for its exceptional direction, which maximized BABYMONSTER’s expressive power and the raw appeal of their performance. As the “SHEESH” audio track charted high across global platforms like Billboard and Spotify, the video has also seen a steady rise in popularity.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is set to make a comeback on July 1 with the pre-release single “HOT SAUCE.” YG EXECUTIVE PRODUCER YANG HYUN SUK previously shared, “We prepared it like a gift so fans can enjoy the summer,” and described the track as “a highly addictive hip-hop song reminiscent of the late 1980s,” raising anticipation among music fans.
BABYMONSTER is currently in the middle of their first world tour, performing 32 shows across 20 cities worldwide. On top of that, their busy schedule continues with the release of a second single in September and a mini album in October.
