“We Always Wanted to perform As a 4-member Group”…2NE1, Tearful Full Group Performance… GD, NewJeans, and More Make Appearances
2NE1, the group, has taken the full concert stage together for the first time in 10 years and 6 months. This reunion comes nearly 8 years after their official disbandment in November 2016.
The 2024 Seoul concert titled “WELCOME BACK” was held over three days, starting on the 4th, at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa District, Seoul.
Reuniting after such a long time, 2NE1 kicked off the event with an intro version of “COME BACK HOME” followed by their hit song “FIRE,” signaling their grand return. DARA expressed her longing, saying, “I’ve missed you so much,” and together with the fans shouted, “Let’s play, 2NE1!”
The concert featured a lineup of 2NE1’s biggest hits, including “Clap Your Hands,” “CAN’T NOBODY,” “DO YOU LOVE ME,” “UGLY,” “I AM THE BEST,” “It Hurts,” “LONELY,” and “GO AWAY.” Notably, CL staged powerful solo performances with songs like “The Baddest Female” and “MTBD.”
The intense energy of the stage was matched by the fervent response of the fans. By the latter half of the concert, audience members were up from their seats, dancing and fully enjoying the show.
The event was also a gathering point for numerous stars who came to support 2NE1’s reunion. Groups like NewJeans, CNBLUE’s Jung Yong-hwa, singer Yoon Do-hyun, and entertainer Noh Hong-chul took part in a mid-concert dance challenge that captured attention. Members of the group BIGBANG, including G-Dragon and Daesung, as well as singer Gummy, SE7EN, and WINNER’s HOONY, past and present members of the YG Family, were notably present. Even MINO, who is currently serving in the military, attended the performance. YG Entertainment’s rookie group BABYMONSTER took to the stage as guests, adding to the event’s star-studded lineup.
This concert was filled with nostalgic moments for both 2NE1 members and their fans. Clips from the 2011 reality show “2NE1 TV” were aired, stirring nostalgia among long-time fans. As footage from 2NE1’s debut era was shown, fans let out cheers and gasps of delight. Some fans even attended the concert dressed in the iconic stage outfits of 2NE1 members from the past.
BOM greeted the fans saying, “I’ve missed you so much, and seeing you all here makes my heart flutter.” MINZY expressed her amazement, stating, “It’s like a scene from a dream. I dreamt about the four of us coming back together to see you all, and seeing it actually happen makes me believe that dreams do come true.” DARA, moved by the reunion, admitted, “Even though each of us has been pursuing solo activities, I really wanted us to be together,” and she was visibly emotional.
CL revealed the motivation behind their reunion, stating, “Over the years, we’ve met annually. This year, we promised to get together to take a photo for our 15th debut anniversary, but now here we are actually standing together on stage.” She continued, “Just four months ago, we were a group that had paused, but being here today with all of you feels like a dream. This moment is healing for us.”
2NE1 will start their tour in Seoul and continue to nine cities including Manila, Jakarta, Kobe, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, and Taipei, extending their reunion celebration across the globe.
