Sandara Park Tears Up Over 2NE1’s Comeback After 8 Years: “I’m Happy to Stand Proud for Our Fans” (Cultwo Show)
[뉴스엔=서유나 기자] Singer Sandara Park was brought to tears as she discussed the comeback news of 2NE1.
On the July 26th broadcast of SBS PowerFM’s “Cultwo Show,” in the segment “Don’t Do It!” Sandara Park and Brian appeared as guests. That day, Kim Tae-gyun announced, “You might have already heard, but it’s finally confirmed. The much-rumored 2NE1 is making a comeback.”
On July 22, YG Entertainment’s Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK officially announced the 2NE1 project, forecasting a concert in Seoul and a global tour.
Sandara Park, overwhelmed by the long-awaited news, responded to the congratulatory reactions by saying, “I’ve also been waiting eagerly and I’m so happy to finally talk proudly to our fans after 8 years.”
At that moment, special DJ Kwak Beom captured her emotional moment, stating, “Sandara is trying to hold back her tears as she speaks,” and Sandara continued, “Receiving congratulations from many people after the news broke,” before becoming visibly moved. The audience sent her enthusiastic cheers and applause.
Sandara mentioned, “It must have been hard keeping it under wraps for a grand opening, right?” Upon Kim Tae-gyun expressing understanding, she added, “I wanted to wait until we were ready to announce it. It still feels like a dream and it’s wonderful. I came in my pajamas because practice has been so tough, but I’m happy, so it’s worth it. We started practicing this week and are going all out.”
Regarding the performance schedule, she revealed, “We will perform on October 5th and 6th at the Seoul Olympic Hall, where we had our first concert in 2011. It’s very meaningful.” She continued, “We’ve also booked venues in Kobe and Tokyo, Japan, and we’re scheduling performances in as many countries as possible,” generating excitement.
Sandara Park shared, “The members are practicing very hard. We plan to continue the tour until the first half of next year, and all the members have paused their solo activities to fully commit to 2NE1. Everyone is dancing for seven hours straight without complaints because they know how precious this moment is.”
However, there was bittersweet news as well. Due to dedicating herself to 2NE1’s performance practices, Sandara Park will be taking a temporary leave from “Cultwo Show.” She expressed her sadness, “I’ll be saying goodbye for a while to focus on 2NE1. It’s been a sad decision to leave the ‘Cultwo Show,’ which has been my happy virus. I hope to return as a guest later.”
