YG’s BABYMONSTER Sets New Record: Fastest K-Pop Girl Group Debut Song to Hit 200 Million Views
[뉴스엔=황혜진 기자] Rookie group BABYMONSTER, under YG Entertainment, has set a new record for the fastest K-pop girl group debut song to reach 200 million views.
On May 5, YG Entertainment announced that the music video for BABYMONSTER’s official debut song “SHEESH” surpassed 200 million views on YouTube at around 8:24 PM the previous day. This achievement took only 33 days since its release, marking the fastest time for any K-pop girl group debut song to reach this milestone.
This achievement was anticipated early on. After its release, the music video quickly soared to the top of YouTube’s global weekly chart, becoming the most-watched video within 24 hours. It only took 10 days to reach 100 million views, also setting a new record for K-pop girl group debut songs.
BABYMONSTER is demonstrating significant global influence on YouTube. Their pre-debut song “BATTER UP” rapidly surpassed 100 million views in 18 days and 200 million views in 53 days. Their follow-up song “Stuck In The Middle,” despite being a ballad without a performance video, achieved 100 million views in just 38 days. The group’s YouTube channel currently has 5.37 million subscribers, and their accumulated views are nearing 1.7 billion.
BABYMONSTER will kick off their fan meeting tour in Asia at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on May 11 and 12, covering five regions (Tokyo, Japan; Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Taipei; Bangkok, Thailand).
In addition, they will start their full-fledged promotion in Japan. They are scheduled to perform at Japan’s largest music festival, “Summer Sonic 2024,” in August, bringing them closer to their global fans.
