“YG Does It Right” BABYMONSTER, One Is Enough
[OSEN=박소영 기자] YG Entertainment is garnering praise from K-pop fans. The powerhouse rookie, BABYMONSTER, is truly shining through.
BABYMONSTER recently topped the charts on Mnet’s ‘M COUNTDOWN’ on May 2 with their title track ‘SHEESH’, claiming the first place for the first week of May. Even though they’ve wrapped up official promotions, the song scored consistently across digital platforms, social media, and fan votes, securing this remarkable achievement. Thus, BABYMONSTER has snagged their first music show trophy just one month post-debut.
Released on April 1, the title track ‘SHEESH’ is a hip-hop/dance track featuring baroque-style piano melodies and powerful synthesizer sounds. The catchy hook with the exclamatory ‘SHEESH’ encapsulates BABYMONSTER’s bold aspirations to astonish the world.
BABYMONSTER has been the focus of explosive international attention even before their debut. As the “lid was lifted”, the response heated up even more. The collective visual appeal and overwhelming talent of RORA, RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, RAMI, CHIQUITA, and AHYEON have been hard to believe for rookies. Their stable vocals and flamboyant performances have been a treat for both the eyes and ears of music fans.
The music industry is buzzing over the emergence of this promising new girl group that is a delight to both see and hear. In fact, comments on BABYMONSTER’s live performance videos like, “They’re enjoying beyond just performing live”, “I like that BABYMONSTER is genuine”, “Are they really rookies?”, and “You are the future of K-pop, kids” are flooding in.
Notably, comments such as “It’s exciting to see YG enjoying good live performances so much they’ve gone straight to band arrangements and handed them handheld mics”, “All members with handheld mics + band live, YG’s got brains”, “YG executive producer YANG HYUN SUK is truly impressive. How does he only pick these kinds?”, and “Now I understand why it takes YG so long to debut a group” are pouring in, drawing significant attention.
Music fans have long awaited the emergence of this all-rounder group. BABYMONSTER, with their vocal skills, rap skills, performance abilities, and visuals, are indeed the future of K-pop.
