Park Myung-Soo Praises BABYMONSTER… “You All Remind Me of BLACKPINK’s Early Days”

On the April 15th broadcast of KBS Cool FM’s Park Myung-Soo’s Radio Show,’ YG Entertainment’s new girl group BABYMONSTER made an appearance.
During the show, Park Myung-Soo reminisced about meeting BLACKPINK around 8-9 years ago, saying, “I told them back then that they would be successful, and I felt the same vibe when I met BABYMONSTER in the waiting room today. They seem like they could spark the second wave of the Korean Wave.”
When asked about BABYMONSTER’s strengths, RORA mentioned, “We have a youthful charm but also bring a hip-hop vibe when they perform on stage, which is a unique trait.” PHARITA confidently added, “Given the amount of practice we’ve had, our vocal skills and live performances are outstanding.”
BABYMONSTER performed their title track ‘SHEESH’ live, impressing Park Myung-Soo who noted, “Each member shines in their roles. How much practice did you put in? YG really doesn’t just pick anyone.”
Park Myung-Soo asked, “I heard you were selected through a survival program before debuting, is that correct?” To which RORA responded, “Yes, we participated in a program that selected members for BABYMONSTER. We all worked hard and were chosen as a result.”
As the first girl group from YG Entertainment in seven years since BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER also shared their future goals. PHARITA expressed a desire to “hold our own concerts,” while RUKA stated, “I want to become an artist who gains popularity worldwide. I’d also like to perform at the Tokyo Dome.”
RORA aimed for newcomer awards, noting, “As newcomers, we’d like to aim for some awards.” ASA said, “Holding a solo concert is our goal. As our track list grows, we hope to have more opportunities to connect with our fans through concerts.” CHIQUITA also expressed a desire to “hold concerts.”
Park Myung-Soo asked CHIQUITA about the popularity of BLACKPINK’s LISA in Thailand, to which she replied, “It’s absolutely crazy,” highlighting LISA’s exceptional popularity. Park Myeong-su encouraged her, “Now it’s going to be crazy because of you, CHIQUITA. Dream of becoming the second LISA.”
Furthermore, AHYEON expressed a wish to “continue working healthily with the members for a long time,” and RAMI shared, “I’d like to reach number one on the Billboard charts.”
In addition, the global pop star Charlie Puth gifted BABYMONSTER the song ‘LIKE THAT,’ revealing a behind-the-scenes story. Previously, AHYEON had covered Charlie Puth’s ‘Dangerously,’ which caught his attention. He commented on her video, leading to their collaboration. AHYEON shared, “That connection led to us receiving ‘LIKE THAT’ as a gift and working together on it.”
