[이데일리=김현식 기자] “It felt natural,” was the unanimous sentiment among the members of the girl group BABYMONSTER (RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, AHYEON, RAMI, RORA, CHIQUITA) when asked about the official change of their debut date to coincide with the release of their first mini album.

Previously, BABYMONSTER released their debut single “BATTER UP” in November last year. At that time, due to health issues, AHYEON was unable to join, leading the group to debut with six members. This time, with AHYEON’s return, the group has showcased their mini album as a complete seven-member lineup. Consequently, their agency, YG Entertainment, has decided to change BABYMONSTER’s official debut date to the album release date.

After overcoming various challenges to finally debut as a complete seven-member group, BABYMONSTER held a round interview at their agency’s building in Mapo-gu, Seoul, at 2 PM on the same day. When asked about the change in their debut date, RAMI stated, “We naturally thought it was the right thing to do. Waiting for AHYEON and making the change felt like it was easing the pressure, so it seemed appropriate to mark our debut day as today.”

RORA added, “We had always naturally thought that our debut should be when AHYEON could join us on an album. We are thankful to our company for accepting our opinion. With AHYEON’s return, we believe we can show a more perfect image.”

Expressing her gratitude, AHYEON mentioned, “I’m thankful to the members and the company for their consideration.” She continued, “I wanted to join the members and perform as a complete group as soon as possible. I’m happy to be able to do that.”

Regarding the delay in her joining, AHYEON shared, “It was a bit tough mentally. I can’t go into details, but the pressure was significant.” To overcome this, she said, “I tried to take good care of myself by eating well.” When asked how she managed the pressure, AHYEON revealed, “I tried to avoid being hasty.”

AHYEON further mentioned, “The support from the members and fans was a great source of strength. The encouragement from fans’ billboards and comments saying ‘stay strong’ and ‘get well soon’ were a huge motivation for me.”

BABYMONSTER’s first mini album, [BABYMONS7ER], includes a total of seven tracks: the title song “SHEESH” along with “LIKE THAT”, “MONSTERS (Intro)”, “Stuck In The Middle (7 ver.)”, “BATTER UP (7 ver.)” “DREAM,” and “Stuck In The Middle (Remix).” The title track “SHEESH” is a hip-hop dance song that conveys the bold ambition of astonishing the world. The music was worked on by YG EXECUTIVE PRODUCER YANG HYUN SUK, CHOICE37, and TREASURE’s CHOI HYUN SUK among others.
