Psy’s Seoul concert with 100,000 horse-ride dancing fans sets Guinness World Records as The “Largest Gangnam Style dance”
Psy, his concert with 100,000 fans dancing the horse-riding dance, set a Guinness World Records.
Korea Records said, “Psy’s concert with his 100,000 fans all dancing the Gangnam Style dance has set a Guinness World Records of England.”
The record-collecting book dubbed it the “Largest Gangnam Style dance.”
In regards of its title, Korea Records stated, “Guinness World Records giving it its own title shows that it acknowledges the record-breaking scale of Psy’s concert. Guinness World Records noticed the value of 100,000 Seoul citizens dancing with the world star Psy.” And it also added that it is especially meaningful that the 100,000 Seoul citizens are also part of the World Records.
In order to be acknowledged by Guinness World Records, one either needs to break an existing record or has to be given a new title for setting a record for the first time. In order to get a title, it needs to be a globally record-breaking event. In particular, if the event comes under the category of culture and art, it needs to pass the consulting of Guinness World Record’s group of experts.
Korea Records explained, “As Psy’s title for the new world record is confirmed, we need to submit photographs, video clips, confirmation and log books, which are the things Guinness World Records require. And then we will be receiving an official confirmation from them.”
The event that is to set the Guinness World Records took place Oct 14 last year, when Psy held a free Seoul Plaza concert to express his gratitude to his fans who have given him unwavering support. At the time he was in the United States after becoming a world star, but he flew all the way to Korea just for the concert. This drew attention from all corners of the world as 100,000 fans joined to watch him perform (the estimate of the National Police Agency is 80,000). The very event also set a record in Korea Records for the largest group of people dancing the horse-ride dance at the same time.
