BLACKPINK Records 8th 800 million-view M/V…‘WHISTLE’ Surpasses 800 million Views
[헤럴드경제=고승희 기자] The M/V for BLACKPINK’s debut song ‘WHISTLE’ also surpassed 800 million views on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on the 13th, BLACKPINK’s ‘WHISTLE’ music video surpassed 800 million views on YouTube as of 11:08PM of the 12th. This feat comes in about 6 years and a month since it was released on August 8th, 2016.
BLACKPINK has a total of 8 videos that have reached more than 800 million views on YouTube. Previously, music videos such as ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU (1.9 billion views)’, ‘Kill This Love (1. billion views)’, ‘BOOMBAYAH (1.4 billion views)’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST (1.2 billion views)’, ‘How You Like That (1.1 billion views) and their choreography video (1.2 billion views) along with JENNIE’s solo song ‘SOLO (800 million views) reached the same record.
‘WHISTLE’ is one of BLACKPINK’s double title songs of their debut single ‘SQUARE ONE’. The M/V received international spotlight for its sophisticated yet colorful clip, along with member’s unrivaled visuals.
The song also received an unprecedented record for a newly debuted group. It reached a ‘perfect all-kill’ by taking over major domestic music sites’ real-time, daily, and weekly charts for 16 consecutive days as soon as it was released. It also topped the iTunes charts in 14 countries, which was rare for a rookie group at the time.
BLACKPINK reached more than 80 million YouTube subscribers last month, recording the first and most number of subscribers among artists from all around the world. Their current number of subscribers continues to increase, reaching more than 80.6 million, and their cumulative number of views on YouTube has exceeded 26.2 billion views.
